Biography of Lee Myung-bak
Lee Myung-bak, the former President of South Korea, was born on December 19, , in Osaka, Japan, in one of the districts.
He was one of seven children of Korean immigrants working on a Japanese farm and was given the Japanese name Akihiro Tsukiyama at birth. In , after Japan's defeat in World War II, Lee's family returned to Korea to his father's hometown, a small fishing village called Pohang, located in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula.

The family lost all their possessions during the move and had to cope with poverty.
In , Lee enrolled in an evening high school in Seoul, where his family had relocated. In his free time, he worked as a garbage collector.
In , Lee entered the Korean University in Seoul and, in order to earn money for tuition, worked as a janitor and popcorn seller. In , Lee became the head of the student council at his faculty. In , he w
