Lawton Williams (July 24, 1922 – July 27, 2007) was an American country music singer and songwriter.
Williams taught himself to play guitar as a teenager but made no steps towards a musical career until, while serving in World War II, he met Floyd Tillman who acted as a mentor to him.[1] After being discharged from the Army, Williams cut several initial singles for small local labels under the name "Slim Williams" from 1947 to 1950.[2]
His major label debut, in 1951 on Coral, was "Everlastin' Love
